Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihal Doğan (Project Coordinator)

Nihal Dogan was born in Gelibolu in 1968. She completed primary and secondary education in Gelibolu. She graduated from Biology Education Department of Uludag University in 1989. She completed her MA degree in Hydrobiology from the Gazi University, Ankara. She completed her PhD in Biology Education, with a focus on nature of science, at the University of Gazi. She received PhD Research Scholarship from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBİTAK) to work Nature of Science, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Fouad Abd-El-Khalick in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Her research focuses on the teaching and learning of nature of science in grades K-12, and in pre-service and in-service science teacher. Her research interests also include teacher education and research methods in Science Education. Currently, She is an associate professor at the Department of Elementary Education , Abant Izzet Baysal University, Bolu, Turkey.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gültekin Çakmakçı

Gultekin Cakmakci received his BSc. degree in Chemical Engineering from Ankara University. After working as a Chemical Engineer in the industry for about a year, he decided to become a researcher. He received his MA in Science Education from the University of York, UK and PhD in Science Education from the University of Leeds, UK. He is an Associate Professor of Science Education at Hacettepe University and has been teaching courses on science education since 2005. His research interests focus on developing scientific literacy among students and the general public and on the design, implementation and evaluation of science teaching. He has involved in several European Commission FP7 projects (e.g., S-TEAM, SAILS and MaScil). He is scientific committee member of the “Public Communication of Science and Technology (PCST)”, member of the Editorial Advisory Board of “Studies in Science Education”, and founding president of the Turkish "Science Education and Research Association (SERA)". He was a visiting scholar at Stanford University for a year (2011-2012).

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serhat İrez

Serhat Irez was born in Eskişehir in 1975. After completing primary and secondary education, he started his undergraduate studies in Biology Department at the Osmangazi University, Eskişehir, and graduated in 1997. He completed his MA study at the University of Nottingham, UK, on “Professional Development of Teachers” and doctoral study at the same university on “Teacher education”. His research interests include teaching and learning of nature of science in science education, teacher education and professional development of science teachers and, research methods in education. He currently works as an associate professor in Biology Education Department at the Marmara University, Istanbul.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Yalçın Yalaki

Dr. Yalaki was born in Adana, Turkey. After completing his primary and secondary education in Adana, he graduated from Cukurova University, Faculty of Arts and Letters, Department of Chemistry. He completed his MS and PhD degrees at Florida State University in the USA in the field of science education. He has been working as an academic personnel at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education, Department of Elementary Education since 2004. His research interests include, teaching and learning of nature of science, inquiry based science education, formative assessment, use of technology in education, and teacher beliefs.

Eda Erdaş

Eda Erdas was born in Tokat in 1987. She completed her primary and secondary education in Istanbul. She graduated from the Department of Elementary Science Education at Gazi University, Kastamonu Faculty of Education in 2008 with honors. She completed her MA as The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) National Master Degree Scholar at Department of Elementary Science Education in Kastamonu University, Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences in 2011. She started doctoral education at Department of Elementary Science Education in Abant Izzet Baysal University, Institute of Education in 2011. She is continuing her doctoral studies as TUBITAK National Doctoral Degree Scholar and she is currenlty employed as lecturer at Kastamonu University.

Gökhan Kaya

Gökhan was born in Sivas in 1986. He completed primary and secondary education in Sivas. He graduated from Elemantary Science Education Program at Hacettepe University in 2009. He completed his MS degrees at Hacettepe University in the field of elementary science education. After compeliting his Masters degree, he started his doctoral education at Hacettepe University. He worked at Kastamonu University in Elemantary Science Education Department from 2010 to 2011.He has been working as research assistant at Hacettepe University, Faculty of Education, Department of Elementary Education since 2011. He is continuing his doctoral studies as aTUBITAK National Doctoral Degree Scholar.

Zekai Berk Altıner

Zekai Berk Altıner was born in Edirne in 1988. After completing his primary and secondary education in Kırklareli, he graduated from theBiology Education Department of Marmara University in 2012. He is continuing his MA study at Marmara University as a TUBITAK Project Scholar.

Çiğdem Han

Çiğdem Han was born in İstanbul in 1985. After completing her primary and secondary education, she started her undergraduate studies in Biology Education Department at the Marmara University, İstanbul, and graduated in 2008. She completed her MA study at the Marmara University, on “Teachers’ Personal Theories and Curricula”. She started her doctoral education at Marmara University in 2012. She currently Works as a research assistant in Biology Education Department at the Marnara University, Istanbul.

Vildan Gaye Bala

Vildan Gaye Bala was born in İstanbul in 1985. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara. She graduated from the Department of Elemantary Science Education at Gazi University. She continues her MA study at Hacettepe University. She works as a teacher at Aydan Yayıncılık Co. Inc.

Ferah Özer

Ferah Özer was born in 1990. She completed her primary and secondary education in Istanbul. In 2012, she earned a Bachelors Degree from Abant Izzet Baysal Universtiy, Department of Science Education &Teaching and started her Masters at the Institute of Educational Sciences, Department of Science Education at the same university. She has been continuing her academic life as a Masters student and TUBITAK Project Scholar.

Gizem Ertuğrul

I was born in İstanbul in 1990. I completed my primary and secondary education in İstanbul. I graduated from Abant İzzet Baysal University, Department of Science Education. I am continuing my academic life as a Masters student at the same university.
